June 17, 2025 – The music world and millions of Ariana Grande fans are mourning the loss of Marjorie “Nonna” Grande, the singer’s beloved grandmother and family matriarch. Marjorie passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her loved ones. She was 99 years old.
In an official statement, the Grande family confirmed that Marjorie “passed peacefully at home, accompanied by her loved ones during her final weeks of life.” Her passing not only represents a personal loss for her family, but also a poignant moment for fans who always admired the special bond between Ariana and her Nonna.

A woman of love, memory and music
Marjorie Grande was much more than a grandmother: she was a spiritual guide in Ariana’s life and a discreet but powerful figure in her artistic career. Affectionately known as the “matriarch” of the Grande family, she was a symbol of strength, tenderness, and wisdom within the family home.
Fans first met her through several of Ariana’s songs, including “Daydreamin’,” “Bloodline,” and, most notably, her emotional spoken-word performance on “Ordinary Things ,” from her album Eternal Sunshine . With that performance, Marjorie became the oldest person to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making pop culture history.
